Chelsea emerged victorious in the London derby against Tottenham, securing a 1-0 win this Thursday (3rd) at Stamford Bridge, in the 30th round of the Premier League. The decisive goal came from Argentinian Enzo Fernández, who found the net just five minutes into the second half, earning three crucial points for the Blues.
With this triumph, Chelsea climbed to fourth place in the standings, now sitting on 52 points, overtaking Manchester City, which is in fifth with one point less. Enzo Maresca’s team showcased their strength in the derby, especially after suffering a 1-0 loss to Arsenal in the previous round. Moreover, this result extends Chelsea’s recent dominance over Spurs, marking their fourth consecutive derby victory against Tottenham. The last time Tottenham won this fixture was back in February 2023, with a 2-0 victory in the Premier League.
On the other hand, Tottenham is struggling in the competition. The team has now gone four games without a win, enduring a season far below expectations. With just 34 points, they currently sit 14th in the table, far from European qualification spots and in desperate need of a turnaround to finish the season on a higher note.
Chelsea now prepares for their next challenge on Sunday (6th), when they visit Brentford, looking to strengthen their position at the top. Meanwhile, Tottenham will host Southampton at the same time, aiming to break their winless streak and move away from the middle of the table.
