Manchester United and Manchester City Play Out Goalless Draw at Old Trafford

Premier League

The Manchester derby between Manchester United and Manchester City, held on Sunday, 6 April 2025, at Old Trafford, ended in a 0-0 draw. Despite high expectations for an intense Premier League game, the match saw few clear cut chances and no goals.

Manchester United started brightly, with Alejandro Garnacho winning a dangerous free-kick near the box early on. However, the first half offered little in terms of real opportunities for either side. In the second half, City came close through Omar Marmoush, whose shot was well saved by André Onana. United also had a good chance, but Joshua Zirkzee was denied by a solid save from Ederson.

With the result, Manchester City remain fifth in the Premier League standings with 52 points, just one behind Chelsea. Meanwhile, Manchester United stay in 13th place with 38 points, far from the battle for European competition spots.

After the match, Pep Guardiola expressed his frustration at City’s struggles in the final third. United boss Ruben Amorim highlighted the team’s need to be more clinical in attack. Club captain Bruno Fernandes admitted disappointment, stating the team needs more of a “killer instinct” to return to winning ways.

Both Manchester sides will now turn their focus to the upcoming fixtures as they seek to strengthen their positions in the Premier League.
