Wolverhampton took a major step towards securing their Premier League status by beating Ipswich Town 2-1 away from home this Saturday, 5 April 2025. Playing at Portman Road, the Wolves produced a crucial comeback that all but guarantees their place in the top flight for next season.

Ipswich started stronger and opened the scoring in the first half, with Liam Delap finishing from a Brennan Johnson cross. However, Wolverhampton returned from the break much more organised. The equaliser came in the 72nd minute, when Pablo Sarabia, who had just come on, fired a brilliant left footed strike into the net.

The decisive comeback was completed in the 84th minute, when Jørgen Strand Larsen converted a Sarabia cross to secure all three points for the visitors.

With the win, Wolves now have three consecutive victories and have opened up a 12 point gap over Ipswich, who remain trapped in the relegation zone with only a few matches left. While the home side’s situation grows more desperate, Wolves can breathe a sigh of relief.

The match also saw tension after the final whistle, as defender Toti Gomes was accused of taunting the Ipswich supporters, sparking anger in the stands.

Wolverhampton will next face Tottenham at Molineux Stadium on Sunday, 13 April. Meanwhile, Ipswich have a tough run ahead, starting with an away trip to Chelsea.
